Shay’s work defies conventional representation, inviting viewers to experience art as an emotional and psychological journey. His early practice involved detailed stencil work.
it soon became clear that true expression required abandoning the familiar.
The Artist
After high school, Shay attended the College for Creative Studies, where he found early inspiration that set the foundation for his artistic journey. He soon forged his own path—building a diverse portfolio, curating exhibitions, and showcasing his work across the Metro Detroit area.
Shay’s art has been featured in several high-end boutiques in Birmingham, Mi, including Ligne Roset and Ital Moda, where he collaborated with the owners to host two gallery openings. These events not only highlighted his own creations but also provided a platform for other artists to share their work.
After several successful years in the Detroit art scene, Shay set aside his brushes for a time to embrace a nomadic lifestyle. He backpacked through South America and traveled across the United States in a custom-built, solar-powered RV, later returning to Brazil for another backpacking journey.
His travels deeply influenced his artistic perspective, especially his time spent with indigenous communities in the Amazonian jungles of Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. ​

Shay is currently based out of Commerce Township, Michigan. Creating what some believe to be his best work yet.
